Field-nylon at the back yoke and shoulders provides additional protection. Design details include a leather collar, hand-pocket openings, sleeve panels, and hem, as well as zippered mesh gussets at the sleeve openings. There are also zippered hand pockets for stashing necessities.

In terms of protection, the Draft is equipped with D3O shoulder, elbow and back armor that is also removable. AETHER created an innovative design to prevent discomfort in which the shoulder and elbow armor pockets are accessed through the lining of the back armor pocket. The Draft Jacket also comes with a water-resistant outer shell that fits in a zippered kangaroo pouch on the back of the mesh jacket, making it easily accessible when the weather turns cold or wet.

The outer shell is constructed from a nylon stretch 3-layer fabric that is fully seam sealed, rendering it water and wind resistant. Zippered hand openings allow access to the pockets in the mesh jacket while snap tabs connect this outer layer to the jacket underneath. Finally, reflective tape at the back and sleeves increases visibility on evening rides.
